Words We Should know Part 1

As we know the bible was not written in english, it was written in Hebrew and Greek, and both of these languages are deep and complicated, and because of this expressiveness, we can get a much deeper understanding of what the bible says by knowing the definitions of some key words, so over the span of several posts, I will do my best to share with you some of these words, and their meanings, so as you study your bible, you will receive a richer deeper understanding, that is what God wants you to have.I will give each word, its strongs # the english word, then what language its from, so lets start with what has to be the most beautiful word in the bible.     Dikaiosune (1343) righteousness (GK) this is a complex word with pages of definition; so i will explain it in a nutshell: this is Gods implied righteousness, His righteousness given to us, as opposed to our righteousness trying to reach God.      Pistis (4102) faith (GK)  firm persuasion, conviction of the truth, trust.    Semeion (4592) sign (GK)  a miracle with a spiritual end and purpose, in other words a sign that tells a story.     Hagios (40) saint, saints, holy (GK)  its the fundemental idea of seperation, devotion to service to God, it means morally pure, it is spoken of those who profess Christ, it does not mean totally perfect it means totally His.     Ekklesia (1577) Church (GK)  the term ekklesia denotes the NT community in its twofold aspect. First all who were called by and to Christ in the fellowship of His salvation, the church world wide and of all times, and secondly of the NT churches.     Charis, Charisma, Charitoo, (5485/5486/5487) grace, gift of grace, engraced (GK)  that gratification, favor, acceptance.which causes joy, pleasure, a favor done without expectation of return, the free expression of the loving kindness of God to mankind, when received by faith, it transforms uds and causes us to love Him and to seek after His righteousness.
