A Peek At Psalm 23

The 23rd Psalm is a beautiful passage, loaded with Gods goodness, and it is full of revelation of God. Many many chapters have been written and still can be written about it. and I too want to share something from it, a little something that kind of opens the door to so much other understanding of it. Do you know about the " Jehovah names" those hyphenated names of God, such as Jehovah-Jireh or Jehovah-Shalom? there are eight such names of God in the old testament. God gives us many more names than that in scripture, but He used these eight to help us to get to know who He is much better, each of these names reveals to us a particular attribute of His divine nature, a different facet of His personality if you will. David knew these names, and in one sweet little song shared them with us. So why dont we take a look at them for ourselves?   Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd (Jehovah-Raah ( the Lord who is your shepherd))  I shall not want ( Jehovah- Jireh ( the Lord who is your provider ))  He makes me to lie down in green pastures: He leads me beside the still waters.  (Jehovah-Shalom (the Lord who is your perfect peace)) He restores my soul (Jehovah-Rapha (the Lord who is your Healer)) He leads ( Jehovah- Raah) in the paths of righteousness for His names sake (Jehovah-Tsid Kenu (the Lord who is you righteousness)) Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for you are with me: (Jehovah-Shammah ( the Lord who is with you everywhere)) Your rod and Your staff they comfort me: (Jehovah-Sabaoth ( the Lord who is your protector )) You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies (Jehovah-Nissi ( the Lord who is your banner "of love and protection"))  ( now we see all of these attributes come together for us) You annoint my head with oil: my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. In this last bit here, we see Gods righteousness, His healing, His protection, His provision, His love and peace, all poured upon us. WOW, all this revelation of our Lord, given to us in six sweet little verses!
