What Is It With the Assembly

We are told in the book of Hebrews, Chapter 10 verse 25, to not " forsake the assembling of ourselves together." so whats up with that? can't we just watch christian TV and call it good. Well as we will see as we study the passage, that is not a good idea!  Before we read the passage lets understand that the greek word for assembly is a cognate word with the greek word for the church, so that alone makes a point.   Hebrews 10: 23-25  " Let us hold fast (tightly) the profession (3671)( homologia, to agree confess, say the same thing) of our faith without wavering: ( for He is faithful that promised) and let us consider (2657) (regard) one another to provoke (3948) ( stir up, provoke, encourage to action) unto love and good works: Not forsaking (1459) (forsake depart separate oneself) the assembling(1997) ( episonagoge) ( to gather together, to assemble in one place, does not merely denote the assembly as a solitary or occasional act but as customary conduct) of ourselves together, as the manner of some is: but exhorting (3870) ( encouraging consoling admonishing counceling comfort) one another: and so much more, as ye see the day approaching.     So we see that to assemble regularly in a christian fellowship, be it church or bible study or what have you, is not only a biblical commandment, but this passage show us why we need corporate worship and fellowship, starting with it helps strengthen our faith, it stirs us up to do good works for Christ, and we are also stregthened through encouragement, comfort, councel, and the admonishment of our fellow christians, it is pretty hard to walk this walk of christianity without fellowship.
