And Jesus feeds 5000

  • In  previous posts we learned about numerics and the greek word semeion, here is a great example of both.   Mt 14:16-21 But Jesus said to them " They need not depart: give you them to eat." And they  say to Him, we have here but five  loaves and two fishes. He said bring them to me." And He commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke, and gave the loaves to His disciples, and his disciples to the multitude. And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up the fragments that remained twelve baskets full. And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.   Now in and of itself this is a wonderful miracle, but it is a semeon, so it is more than that, it tell us something within this miracle, so lets look at it; here are the keys that I see, five loaves, two fishes, they gave to Jesus, He gave back, commanded to sit, twelve baskets full, five thousand fed. Well five is the number of grace, bread is sustanence, two is witnessing, fish are the unsaved, commanded to sit is, decent and in order, (Gods way of doing things) twelve is divine government ( it is safe to say that this is a reference to church) a full basket refers to a product of  Gods will, five thousand means grace to a multitude. So here is what this miracle says, " if we will take the sustaining grace of God and apply it to our individual ministries, in this case witnessing, give it to Jesus, He will bless it and return it to us, empowering us to do the work, it needs to be done His way, and what we will have is a full, divinely led church ( both local groups and the body of Christ) and the grace of God will be spread thoughout the multitudes! Amen
